Future QB Power Ranking

There has been a lot of discussion about who should be considered the best quarterback in the NFL. Which usually happens after a Super Bowl, whether it is a newly spotlighted quarterback (Joe Flacco) or  a repeat champion.

This discussion is always intriguing but this year should always be remembered as the year of rookie quarterbacks and last years rookie qb's weren't too shabby either. So I created a Future Quarterback Power Ranking, a comprehensive list of quarterbacks that have only been in the league for 2 years.

The ranking is set in order of which quarterback I think has the best opportunity to win a Super Bowl sooner rather than later or not at all.

1. Russell Wilson

Mr. DangeRuss Wilson gets the top spot because despite his height he has all the tools to be a great quarterback. Drew Brees taught us that height doesn't matter if you put in the work and Russell Wilson does.

He started off the year fairly mundane but after a week 8 he put up insane numbers. More noticeably week 13 in a win against the Chicago Bears, where he came back to win the game not once, but twice! one in regulation and then again in overtime. This guy has ice in his veins.

Biggest Reason for being number 1: He has the best team around him. The Seahawks are stacked on defense, Marshawn Lynch is Beast Mode, and the wide receiving core is very good. The Seahawks could be in the Super Bowl next year.

Stats: 26 TDs,  10 Int, 64% Comp. Percentage, 3,118 yards passing

2.  Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin The Third (must be said in british accent) is the reigning rookie of the year so it's natural that he would be high on this list. The biggest reasons why RG3 isn't number one on this list is because of the gruesome ACL/MCL injury that he suffered in the playoffs and the tortured Redskins secondary. But don't sleep on him and the Redskins. He is reportedly ahead of schedule and the Skins will get back Brian Orakpo and Adam Carriker, their leading pass rushers and will probably sign more wide receiving talent to help their 5th ranked total offense and 1st ranked total defense.

The fact that he is already walking up and down stairs only 3 weeks after surgery shows that he will most likely be ready to play for the regular season and the Redskins could very well win the NFC east and contend for the Super Bowl.

Stats: 20 TDs, 5 Int, 65% Comp. Percentage, 3,200 yards passing

3. Colin Kaepernick

You can't really argue against a guy on a team that was just in the Super Bowl so he has to be at least top three on this list. The 49ers definitely have the personnel to make another run to the big game again next year so he is hard to bet against. He raised the 49ers ceiling once he started over Alex Smith and will continue to get better especially with more game experience and Mario Manningham returning next year.

The Biggest reason that he isn't higher is because even though he is going into his second year he still has less game starting experience than the 5 rookie quarterbacks from this last season. Also not many Super Bowl runner-ups have success the season after.

Stats: 10 TDs, 3 Int, 62% Comp. Percentage, 1,849 yards passing

4. Andrew Luck

Andrew Luck is the quintessential prototypical drop back quarterback, a reincarnation of Peyton Manning and maybe he's being asked to do almost as much as Peyton did for the Colts. He also has the capability to run pretty well as well. There is no doubt in my mind that Luck will win a championship at some point in his career but I can't see it happening next year.

The Colts have too many holes in the running game and on defense and will probably lose Dwight Freeney to free agency. So it's hard to put him higher in terms of chances to win a Super Bowl but he is higher based upon talent.

Stats: 23 TDs, 18 Int, 54% Comp. Percentage 4,374 yards passing

5. Cam Newton and Andy Dalton

This was a tough decision because based on their teams Andy Dalton should be ahead of Cam on this list because he has A. J. Green to throw too and a pretty good defense but Cam Newton is more of a threat for defenses to defend. I think that Cam Newton, despite the scrutiny, will continue to be a great quarterback and with a new general manager the Panthers will continue to put better talent around him.

The Bengals have been in the playoffs twice so logic says that Dalton has a better chance but it is hard to see them moving past wild card weekend.

Stats:
Cam Newton: 19 TDs, 12 Int, 57% Comp. Percentage. 3869 yards passing.

Andy Dalton: 27 TDs, 16 Int, 62% Comp. Percentage. 3669 yards passing.

The rest of my ranking.......

6. Ryan Tannehill

7. Christian Ponder

8. Jake Locker

9. Nick Foles

10. Brandon Weeden

What do you guys think of my list? Feel free to comment and let me know how you would have ordered them.
